| About Mark's Rare Comics
Mark Arnold, the publisher of The Harveyville Fun Times! fanzine and author of comic book stories, brings his treasure trove of rare comic books online for avid collectors to buy. There are currently, over 1600 titles online. The inventory primarily consists of those hard to find "funny" books and magazines, such as Harvey, Disney, Dell, Gold Key, etc., in addition to the usual superhero comic books. "Want Lists" are accepted from visitors to the web site to inable us to find the comic books/magazines they are seeking. This is the first comic book site to offer the convenience and ease of shopping for collectible comic books via use of shopping carts for each comic book as well as shipping/handling charges. A totally free comic book database for managing comic book collections is also available for download at the site. In addition to "Certified Pre-Owned", rare, hard to find comics for the discriminating collector, new comics, comic collectibles and merchandise are offered for sale online. One can now purchase the latest Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, books about comic books, reprints of old comic books, videos of comics in the movies and cartoons, comics apparal, comics games, toys, posters and more... Thus, becoming a one stop destination for all comics related shopping. Online buying safety is very important and is explained in the onsite FAQ. The web site is a fun place to visit with games, movies, mystery pictures, odd and unusual products, comics events (conventions, exhibits, etc.) calendar, etc. being offered in addition to comics. Mark's Rare Comics appeals to a worldwide audience with TinTin being recognized as well as Mickey Mouse. Consequently, the capability to translate into eight languages in addition to English is provided on each page.

Mark's Rare Comics Comic Book Database is a Microsoft Access 2000 (Microsoft Access is usually on your computer as part of Microsoft Office 2000) program that offers great flexibility and is provided free to collectors that want a complete and easy method of maintaining and accessing information about their collection. In addition to the standard comic book collection parameters you may input as many pictures and sound clips as you desire for each comic book. You can print complete collection reports and lists of DVDs as well as picture galleries.
No installation is necessary. Run ComicsDB.exe to uncompress files to My Documents. Start Comic Book Database by clicking on the Windows 95/98/2000/XP Start button and on "Open Office Documents" in the Start menu. Double click on ComicsDB. Microsoft Access will open Comic Book Database. Alternatively, you can run Microsoft Access and open ComicsDB.mdb. For convenience place a shortcut on your desktop by opening Windows Explorer, right click on ComicsDB.mdb and drag to desktop. Click on "Create Shortcut(s) Here". The default desktop icon is the Microsoft Access icon. To use rarecomics.ico right click on the desktop icon and "Properties" in the descending menu. Click on the Shortcut Tab. Click on the Change Icon button. Browse to find sorare.ico, e.g., C:\My Documents\rarecomics.ico. Click OK.

You can enter data for each field as shown in the above picture. This data includes each DVD in your collection, title, year, runtime, MPAA rating, director, lead actor, genre, country, language, alternate languages (dubbed and/or subtitled), DVD and theatrical release dates, sound mix, DVD format, color or black and white, widescreen and aspect ratio, pan and scan, memorable line, plot summary and a cover picture. Tabs allow entry of studio and production company; cast and crew lists; reviews; your comments; sound clips and photos; certifications (ratings) around the world; the price you paid, original price, used price, the date you acquired the DVD, sell date; Easter eggs (hidden features); special features; DVD Collector help and information about So Rare! Collectibles/Mark's Rare Comics.

You can display and/or print your collection data in a variety of forms and content. Most reports can be filtered to display just the DVDs that you want, e.g., filter by "Pirates of the Caribbean" to display only Pirates of the Caribbean reports. You can also sort or order the reports by many parameters such as title.
