Chat Room and Forum Help
The Message Board/Forum enables visitors to Mark's Rare Comics to communicate with other visitors by reading messages posted by others and instantly posting your own message. The Message Board/Forum also has a Chat Room to enable "live" communication with other visitors that happen to be online at the same time and have entered the Chat Room. Rather than posting a message and reading other postings you can post your messages and watch others post their messages. This can be lively and more enjoyable than simply reading messages.
Click on Enter the Message Board/Forum to immediately post your comments, thoughts, etc. or enter the Chat Room to communicate with others online at Mark's Rare Comics.
A small window opens in the center of the screen:
You will see some option text links and on the left is a square with a plus sign in it followed by "Welcome to the Rare Comics Discussion". If you have not visted the forum in the past you will be browsing as a guest. "Welcome to Rare Comics Discussion" is the first "Discussion" and new messages may be added to this Discussion and will appear under this heading. To view the first line of all messages in this Discussion click on the plus sign in the square or click on "Expand All".
To see the complete messages click on "Welcome to Rare Comics Discussion" or any other Discussion that may be present.
Messages will be added under "Welcome to Rare Comics Discussion" unless you start a new discussion by clicking on "Add Discussion" prior to entering a message. Once you get accustomed to using the board it is fairly straight forward.
You can register as a new member so that when you return to the forum your name will be remembered and no one else can use the same name to post messages. Just enter your name or nickname and a password to register.
To post a message just enter text in the box. It is not necessary to know HTML or be concerned about "quick-edit formatiing". You can even check the spelling of your epistle by clicking on the "Check Spelling" button. When you are satisfied with what you have written click on the "Post Message" button.
Chat Room
You may enter the Chat Room by clicking on "Chat".
Type your message in the "Message:" box. When you hit Enter your message will appear following your name. A list of people present in the Chat Room appears in the right column.
Many times chatters will use abbreviations. Brackets < > or asterisks * * are often used to indicate actions or facial expressions. E.g., <snicker> or *snicker*. Some of the commonly used abbreviations:
